My earliest memories are of a constant adjustment to change. My father was career Navy resulting in my attending twelve schools, ending in Jacksonville Florida.
My art has been a constant in spite of change throughout my life. I cannot imagine my
life without visual expression.
In the late eighties my move from Florida to Utah dramatically altered my attitude about
my work. I discovered that relocation from the Atlantic Coastline to Utah's Salt Lake
valley, an eroded ancient ocean, redefined how I looked at things around me. I
realized that I had placed limits on my growth. From that time I have painted for the experience of discovery through the process. I ask questions, sometimes I am
surprised.
Today my work reflects my past works as collective experience that I constantly tap
into. It emerges in fragments that have reformed my former figurative style into
something new and exciting. I care about observing and translating in a personal
language of color, texture, lines and shapes. A visual dialogue that provokes questions.
Answers continuously redefine my perspective. Nature is generous and beautiful and at
the same time it is chaotic, remorseless and constantly changing.
I enjoy the challenge.
